The journalistic dialogue: Social media

Four themes, four real-world cases. Every newsroom faces similar challenges — and each finds its own way forward. In this theatre-style dialogue, we’ll explore what works, where the friction lies, and what we can learn from one another.

Social media has become essential to journalism, but is the reverse also true? For most users, journalistic platforms are just one of many sources in an overwhelming information stream. So where does that leave you, as an individual journalist, on these platforms? Spaces once valued for dialogue, like X, are now crowded with conspiracy theorists and constant conflict, while alternatives such as Bluesky have yet to come to life. In this session, we’ll explore how journalists can deal with the realities and challenges of today’s social media landscape.
