Learn how you can generate texts using artificial intelligence. Discover the theory behind formulating effective questions and assignments (prompts) and get advice on how to refine them to generate better answers.

This workshop offers a variety of theoretical insights and practical exercises to improve your skills.

Important: this workshop requires basic knowledge of generative AI. We therefore ask you to go through some materials beforehand. You will be informed about this by e-mail.

  • Tessel Bogaard worked as a journalist and copy editor for various magazines and journals, and was a homeroom teacher at an elementary school in Thailand before transitioning to the field of Computer Science studying at the VU Amsterdam. This was followed by her PhD in data science at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, and she has been a data scientist at NRC since 2020. At NRC, Tessel works on data-related innovative projects, including speech synthesis, making the newspaper archive more accessible to readers, and developing new analytical methods to better understand readers’ behavior.
  • Lisa Schetgen is a data scientist at Mediahuis. Before joining Mediahuis, she was a PhD researcher at Ghent University, focusing on predictive modelling and natural language processing of social media data. Within Mediahuis, she works for the Data & Insights team, where she focusses on AI applications and innovations for the newsroom.
  • Yves Van Dooren is a Data & Insights Expert at Mediahuis Group, based in Antwerp. With over 20 years at the company, he began as a project manager for De Standaard and later managed the Belgian Traffic Team, developing newsroom dashboards and data products. Today, he leverages his extensive experience to exchange ideas, provide insights, and introduce company-wide data concepts like Article DNA.
