The sound of relevance: how Zetland inspires and involves curious Danes (and Fins)

  • Lea Korsgaard is co-founder and editor-in-chief of Zetland and part of the executive management of Zetland Media, a growing media house publishing Zetland in Denmark, Ussi Jutti in Finland, and expanding to a third market before the end of 2025. With 100 employees and more than 50,000 members across the organization, Zetland combines innovative text and audio journalism with a strong focus on audience engagement. Lea works at the intersection of journalism, creativity, technology, and business development. She is the author of The Media User's Manual to the Age of Lies and chairman of the board at the Danish School of Media and Journalism (DMJX).

How do you build journalism that resonates with the next generation? In this keynote, Lea Korsgaard, editor-in-chief of Zetland, shares how the Danish media brand reimagines storytelling through audio-first formats, a thriving membership model, and deep audience involvement. From sensing what matters to the ‘curious Danes’ to launching the concept in Finland with more than 15.000 paying members, Zetland is reshaping journalism with purpose and participation. Expect insights on editorial intuition, community co-creation, and how inspiration often comes from outside traditional newsrooms.
