Behind the Panama Papers: how I burnt out and how you can prevent it

Remember the Panama Papers? Mar Cabra, the former head of data at the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, will tell you about a side of the story you probably didn't hear about yet: the effects on the mental health of its team members. She will join us to share how she burnt out after winning the Pulitzer prize and what journalists can do to avoid the same happening to them. In a very practical talk, she will build on her experience teaching thousands of journalists with her nonprofit, The Self-Investigation, which promotes mental health and wellbeing in the media.

  • Mar Cabra is the Executive Director and co-founder of The Self-Investigation, a nonprofit catalysing a healthy work culture in the media ecosystem globally by placing well-being and mental health as a core business strategy and value. Named by Forbes as one of the most awarded Spaniards. Her work as a journalist has received more than 40 awards, including the Pulitzer Prize. She's also a digital wellness educator and Acumen and Ashoka fellow and is now committed to creating systemic change towards a healthier working culture. She's proud to live by the beach and finds joy in contemporary dance and singing mantras.
